Here is Spencer racing a formula renault car at thruxton race circuit.
We had a day at Thruxton race circuit and we got to drive lots of supercars like the Ferrari and lambo shown here.
Spencer also drove the formula Renault race car.

Here we are just working out where and how to connect the radiator up.

As you can see Spencer is fitting the battery tray before we make and fit the scuttle.

And I am telling him what to do.

Just checking the settings on the carb today.

At the moment we are trying to work out how to fit the radiator at the front of the engine.

We saw some fitted upright and some fitted flat under the nosecone.

Spencer thinks we should fit it flat under the nose and as he works for nasa in a top, top secret department I think I will do as he says.

We installed the racing engine and gearbox in the chassis by using a crane and jacked the front of the car up high to help.

This is the three of us making sure that the engine is nice and comfy in the engine bay

Got the pedals in today and a nice job we made of it too.

This is Spencer crying after we pulled his paw out of the exhaust pipe.

He's such a silly bear!!
If you want to cheer him up send him a email.

We have been fitting the exhaust to the car, and as you can see it took both of us as its long and heavy!!
At one point Spencer got his paw stuck in the tail pipe and it took ages to get it out again!
You can see me helping him to pull it out.

Here we are having a team meeting.

Spencer told me that all the great racing car company's in the world have team meeting to discuss tactics and strategies .

So we had a meeting.

All we seemed to agree on was we don't need team meetings!!

Oh and our other business is also doing well and we now have 2 tyre fitting van on the road.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

Well its been quite a day today.

We have fired-up the engine in zoom zoom for the first time and put a short video on here for you all to see.

Spencer and myself are highly flammable so we had the use of a couple of monkeys for the day to help us.

As you can see in the video the big monkey was starting the car and the smaller monkey was working his mobile phone to record it.(sorry for the poor quality, and the video beening sideways but you just can't get the quality of monkey these days!!)

We had just the engine without the radiator/alternator/and all the other stuff fitted so could only run it for 25 seconds or so.

It went great and sounds like a very fast engine indeed!!!

This is the fuel tank in place

Sunday, October 05, 2008

Hi all
Spencer and myself have had a great time at a drift event in the car park at Wembley stadium.
Here you can see our tyre fitting van in the pits just outside the stadium, we were changing tyres all day for the people racing in the drift event.
Some drivers could wear out a set of rear tyres in about 10 minutes so we were very busy all day.

Spencer had a go of course and managed to finish last of all. This is him with smoke pouring off the rear tyres

Hi all

We have been very busy at work but have still managed to do a little work on the car.

It is now at the rolling chassis stage and the fuel tank is fitted.

All the wheels will have to come off again, at the front the brakes need to be fitted and the suspension setup correctly. At the rear the drive shafts need new boots and the brake back plates need cleaning and the shoes, cylinders and drums need to be fitted.

The reason the suspension has been fitted is to allow the engine/gearbox to be installed.

As soon as this is done all the other parts can be fitted around the engine bay, and the steering shaft made up.

Here are our new wheels and tyres.
The brake disc's are not fitted yet so the wheels
look a little close to the wing supports, but when
the disc's are in place the wheels will sit about 10 mm further away from the supports.

We are now getting the front suspension together so the wheels can be fitted .
It all went together very well

As you can see Spencer has finally fitted the diff into the chassis.
It only took him 2 days of lifting, pushing and pulling to get it in place.
He had to take a day off as he was completely worn out.
He also painted it a shiny silver colour.

Hi all

More and more is now getting done on the car as you can see.

We have test fitted the steering column and brake master cylinder.

Its getting more and more like a racing car every day!!!!

This is the side panel being fitted.

We have to test fit the panels to ensure they line up correctly before Spencer bonds them in place.

Here is Spencer putting a side infill panel in place

He then bent the tabs you can see down, ready to meet the rear top panel when it is fitted.

Spencer is pointing out to me the extra strong mountings for the diff at the rear of our car.

He has spent a long time designing these mountings on the computer at nasa where he works.

They will hold the differental in place as we race around the race track at top speed.

Here we are hard at work on the propshaft panels.

This shows some of the propshaft panels as well as the rear of ths seat back and our new fuel tank!

Spencer has bonded the panels on and I pop rivet them in place. teamwork!!
